Don’t miss the Miami Design District where you will find many galleries and stores for lovers of art and design. It is located in the area bounded by NW 36th to NW 42nd and between NE 2nd Ave and N. Miami Ave. You will also find some great restaurants and boutiques from Fendi and Jonathan Adler to Versace and Tiffany & Co. Don’t miss the Hermès store at 163 E. 39th with its stunning architecture.

Though there have been a number of changes to the restaurants in the area since I found it, there are still some good choices to try:

Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, 130 N.E. 40th St.: Thanks to a show by Anthony Bourdain,  I found this great restaurant in the Design District for lunch. They have an attractive indoor dining room and nice outdoor seating as well. Make sure to add this to your must-do list!

Other dining options include:

Harry’s Pizzeria is a fun option at 3918 N. Miami Ave. according to locals.

Mandolin Agean Bistro is recommended for refined Greek and Turkish cuisine. Le Jardinier is a refined vegetable-driven French restaurant from Michelin-starred Chef Alain Verzeroli. L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon has a modern French menu from the celebrity chef. Also check out the very colorful Baccarat Boutique B Bar and Lounge for coffee, wine or a cocktail with all drinks served in Baccarat crystal.

I am a big fan of food halls and try to try new ones whenever I visit a city.  I love the St. Roch Market in New Orleans. Since I have been back to Miami, they have opened a new location in the Miami Design District, now called Politan Row Miami. They have 12 vendors featuring cocktails, coffee, vegan cuisine, Southern specialties, Italian pastas, tacos and ceviche, sushi, Israeli cuisine, American fare, juices and smoothies, Vietnamese streetfood and Asian specialties. 140 NE 39th St., Suite #241.

On my next trip I want to visit the Institute of Contemporary Art or the ICA. It is a contemporary art museum in a very contemporary building, featuring exhibitions, programs, lectures, performances, youth programs. 61 NE 41st Street.
