I was very impressed with the North Fork of Long Island. Here you will find beautiful farmland and many farm-stands featuring local fruits, vegetables, homemade jams, pies and honey, lavender fields and 44 wineries. You will drive through the charming small towns of Jamesport, Southold, Cutchogue, East Marion, Orient, Mattituck and Greenport. Greenport is a wonderful spot to base yourself and then explore the surrounding area, Shelter Island, Sag Harbor, Montauk and the Hamptons.

In Southold, make sure to visit the Horton’s Point Lighthouse along the Long Island Sound. There is a museum that is open on weekends.
