On a nice day, you might pick up a sandwich at The Elk Store and walk across the street to Greenwood Beach which has picnic tables overlooking the rocks and the coast below. It also sells groceries, coffee, locally made condiments and baked goods sourced from nearby bakeries. The views are spectacular. 6101 S. Highway 1.

Make sure to visit the Artist’s Collective to see the work of local artists.

I just read about the Harbor House Inn in Elk. The ten renovated rooms look excellent. It also has a wonderful restaurant that was awarded one Michelin Star in 2019! In April, 2019. chef Matthew Kammerer was announced as a Food & Wine Magazine Best New Chef. I am excited to go on my next trip to the area.

Point Arena California

Don’t miss the historic Point Arena Lighthouse which is the tallest on the Pacific coast. It is a two mile drive from Highway 1. Make sure to stop at the vista points along the way, as the views of the coast are exceptional.
