Settled in 1859 by gold prospectors, Breckenridge is a charming, historic town in Summit County, CO. I loved seeing the old homes and walking the back alleys to find charming buildings near downtown. The main street has some great historic, brick buildings which houses restaurants, bars and shops. Make sure take time to walk and explore!

In addition to the skiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing in the winter, there is hiking, biking, river rafting, fly fishing, horseback riding, golf and tennis during the rest of the year. But in addition to the regular outdoor activities, there is much more to do while in town.

Breckenridge International Festival of Arts: This annual festival runs in mid-August and offers a variety of performances, exhibitions, screenings, workshops and talks in the area of music, film, dance, visual arts and family entertainment. I love the idea of Trail Mix which combines art and music with hiking and biking along the local trails.

Breckenridge Arts District: I loved exploring this vibrant arts district in downtown Breckenridge that features studios, galleries, performance spaces, historic landmarks, public art and other creative businesses in one location. From 2000 to 2012 it grew into a thriving arts campus that includes ceramics, glass blowing and other studios. Check the calendar on their website for a listing of open studios and art classes, photography classes, art exhibitions, classes in fiction and travel writing along with yoga and dance classes.
