In addition to the great stores, galleries and art offerings, other things to do in Marfa include:

Marfa Lights: If you have time, make sure to visit the desert at night to view the famed Marfa Lights. You can visit the Marfa Lights Viewing Area which is around 9 miles east of town. Make sure to go just after sundown to view strange lights that dance on the horizon. These lights are sometimes red, sometimes blue and sometimes white and usually appear randomly throughout the nights, no matter the season or the weather.

Big Bend National Park: If you are into outside activities, you might enjoy Big Bend National Park. It is about a 50 minute drive from Marfa. Covering over 800,000 acres, here you can hike, camp or raft in this, the largest protected area of the Chihuahuan Desert topography ecology in the US.

McDonald Observatory: Located north of Marfa is this observatory that is part of the University of Texas. During the day there is a solar viewing and tour but three nights a week on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, they feature a Star where you can view the stars through the telescopes.
