There are many options to stay in Paris. The trick is to find a hotel that has reasonable rates. I find myself spending very little time in my room.
My last two trips I have stayed at the Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais. It is small, charming and well located from which to walk and explore the area.
I have seen the hotels Pavillon de la Reine in the Marais and Relais Christine in the 6th which both look amazing.
The hotel Saint-Germain-de-Pres, also in the 6th, is in one of the best locations on the Left Bank.
I stayed at the Hotel des Marronniers, at 21 rue Jacob. It is charming and popular, plus the location is excellent. My single room on one trip was very small, so make sure you book a larger room. They have all recently been renovated.
The Hotel de Vendome is in the perfect location on the Right Bank, but is now much more expensive than it was when I first started traveling to Paris. Friends also love the Hotel Lenox in St. Germain.
My parents always loved the upscale Hotel Lutetia. It has recently been remodeled and is very elegant. 45 Boulevard Raspail.
Other hotels we have been reading good buzz about have included, Hotel Paradis and Hotel del Nell for great design, Hotel Recamier, Hotel Relais Saint Sulpice, the traditional Hotel Luxembourg Parc, Hotel Jules and Jim, Hotel du Petit Moulin and the sleek Hotel Odyssey Paris.
Les Bains is a luxury hotel and spa located in a renovated thermal bath from 1885. The historic Peninsula Paris, where George Gershwin wrote ‘An American in Paris’, has a rooftop restaurant with views of the Eiffel Tower. Both hotels were included in Wallpaper* Magazine’s ‘Best Urban Hotels’ list.
More inexpensive hotels getting great reviews include Hotel Exquis (formerly the Hi-Matic), Hotel Original, Mama Shelter, Hotel Amour, Hotel Arvor Saint Georges, Hotel Crayon, Hotel Therese, Hotel Thoumieux and Hotel Verneuil. Since you are not in your room much in Paris, a cheaper option is often the way to go!
