Portland is a place where you can easily gain weight with very few problems. Don’t miss:

Cacao: Cacao is known for its house-made drinking and hot chocolate. A great place for a break, you can try a flight of 3 drinking chocolates which are all excellent! They also sell a good selection of chocolate candies. The downtown location is off the lobby of the Heathman Hotel at  712 SW Salmon St. There is a second location at 414 SW 13th St.

Voodoo Doughnuts: The famous gourmet doughnut shop in Portland that is not to be missed. Just be prepared for the long lines. The original is located at 22 SW Third in downtown Portland while the second is at 1501 NE Davis. Their doughnuts “may contain eggs, milk and dairy products, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, voodoo magic and soy.” The have a huge selection to choose from! You can see people carrying their large pink boxes all over downtown.

Townshend’s Tea Company: A very good tea shop selling hot and iced tea, loose teas and accessories. There are four Portland locations, but the attractive flagship store can be found at 2223 NE Alberta.  

Random Order Pie Bar: Wonderful pies can be found at this casual bakery at 1800 NE Alberta.

Salt & Straw: For the best in ice cream, run fast to Salt & Straw. They bill themselves as Portland’s “farm-to-cone” ice cream shop. It is handmade in small batches with the best local, sustainable and organic ingredients. They partner with top local chefs to come up with the most unique flavors. You might find Loaded Baked Potato, Sweet Corn, Hawaiian PB&J, Coffee & Bourbon, Sea Salt Carmel Ribbon, Honey Balsamic Strawberry with Cracker Pepper or Freckled Woodblock Chocolate. You can find locations at 3345 SE Division, 2035 NE Alberta and 838 NW 23rd. These are some of the best restaurant streets, so save room for dessert!
