There are a number of good shopping opportunities, as well as many art galleries, in downtown Telluride. Our recent finds include:

Telluride Gallery of Fine Art: This is a well respected gallery for over 30 years that features paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry and more. 130 E. Colorado Ave.

MIXX: At 307 E. Colorado Ave., this is a contemporary gallery featuring art and home accessories. Tweed, Interior Design Studio and Boutique, at 151 S. Pine St., is a great home furnishings store as well.

The Telluride Arts District hosts the First Thursdays Art Walk, monthly from 5 pm to 8 pm. There are more than 20 galleries featured.

Make sure to visit the Stronghouse Studios + Gallery at 283 S. Fir Street. This is a facility, located in a warehouse building from 1892, that features a small gallery with rotating exhibitions plus several artists studios that you can visit.

In addition to its many outdoor activities, Telluride has many cultural and music events  throughout the year. The highlights include the Telluride Balloon Festival in June, Telluride Film Festival in September, Telluride Brews & Blues Festival in September, Telluride Playwrights Festival and the Sunset Concert Series in the Mountain Village.

Others include the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in June, Telluride Wine Festival, Telluride Chamber Music Festival, Telluride American Songbook Festival for classic show tunes. Telluride Plein Air Festival featuring landscape artists, Telluride Yoga Festival, Shakespeare in the Park, the Telluride Jazz Festival and the Telluride Art + Architecture Weekend.
