I went to the famed Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, for the first time. This is a great institution so make plans to spend half a day. It is one of the largest and most diverse collections in the US. It has works from the ancient to the contemporary, encompassing the world’s principal cultures. It has a long history of acquiring Western and non-Western art. The collection includes The Dinner Party, the famed piece by Judy Chicago. There are 39 place settings, each representing historically significant women. The table sits on a floor of tiles with the names of 999 significant women inscribed. There is a great collection of contemporary art and works by Monet, Cezanne, van Gogh and Matisse.
