I love the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong. Here are some of my top things to do and see, based on my two past visits there:
Take the Tram to The Peak for shopping and restaurants. There is shopping and four signature restaurants with views. I had dinner there on my first trip. Also good for lunch. The views of the city are wonderful!!!
Make sure to walk Hollywood Road for Chinese antique shopping. Also stop in at Man Mo Temple (from 1840’s) which is on Hollywood Road as well. This is a very pretty temple and worth a visit.
Take the Star Ferry between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island for great views of the Harbor. You can take the subway, but the ferry is the way to go. Make sure you take in the view of Central from the harbor in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Go the Temple Street Night Market. There is shopping for clothes, leather goods, watches and handbags plus fortune tellers and Chinese opera performers. I was told 18 years ago that I was in my relationship phase. So much for their predictions!
Take the ferry to Lantau Island to see the large Buddha and the Po Lin Monastery. You can eat at vegetarian restaurants in the complex. There are several small fishing villages if you have time.
Go to the park in Kowloon, and Victoria Park in Causeway Bay in the mornings to watch the local people do Tai Chi.
There is a small but nice Jade Market on Kansu St. in Kowloon.
Walk through the area of Sheung Wan to see markets, Chinese medicine stores and traditional Chinese stores. These stores are really interesting. The streets to see are around Bonham Strand. I remember many more from my previous trips but many are gone as they were torn down to make way for the new buildings.
You might take the ferry or boat to Macau which is becoming a large gambling mecca with many large casinos including many from Las Vegas.
