You will find some great restaurants in Paso Robles. My top finds include:

El Cortile: A good Italian fine-dining restaurant a block from the main square. I enjoyed a very good salmon entree. 608 12th St.

El Cortile

Thomas Hill Organics: At 1305 Park St, a block off the main square, this is one of the best restaurants in town. It has a lovely patio for outdoor dining. The Sunday lunch/brunch menu had a large selection of sandwiches, salads and brunch items like a smoked salmon eggs benedict. I had a very fresh beet salad with berries, and other fruit. The owner was very attentive and my server excellent.

The owners have an organic farm near Paso Robles where they grow fruits, vegetables and greens which they use in the restaurant. They also use locally sourced meats, fish and other ingredients.

BL Brasserie, formerly Bistro Laurent, at is also highly regarded.  It features traditional brasserie style food in a casual yet elegant setting. 1202 Pine St.

During the day for lunch, you will find that many of the wineries have casual food items for sale. The best for food is JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery. This is an excellent winery that has a well-known restaurant that is open for lunch, Sunday brunch  and dinner.

For updated Mexican fare and tequila, try Fish Gaucho. La Cosecha boasts Spanish and South American fare for a uniquely Latin American dining experience. The Hatch Rotisserie & Bar has a cocktail hour and dinner service that highlights in-house, rotisserie-smoked meats. All three restaurants come recommended by The New Yorker and other publications.

Other spots getting good press and reviews include Joe’s Place, a casual breakfast, brunch and lunch spot at 305 Spring St. Bueno Tavola is great for Northern Italian specialties and pasta at 943 Spring St. Paso Terra is known for great seafood at 1032 Pine St.  Jeffry’s Wine Country BBQ is recommended for BBQ, craft beer and local wines.

Les Petites Canailles is a farm-to-table restaurant featuring local Central Coast ingredients with a very creative menu. 1215 Spring St.

Recently opened is the Paso Market Walk. It is a mixed-use development that features a number of local operators and purveyors. The developer is renovating old homes and buildings. Their goal is to create a “handpicked collection of the farmers, ranchers, chefs, vintners, makers, and producers are committed to the values and practices of sustainable food and supply systems.”

Here you will find Just Baked Cake Studio & Bakery a boutique bakery; Hog Canyon Brewing Company;  Leo Leo Gelato; Joebella Coffee Roasters; Momotaro Ramen; The Poinsoned Apple Cider & Craft Tavern for craft cider and mead, Paso Robles Wine Merchant – Wineshop, Bar & Kitchen featuring local wines and cheese; The Third Degree a casual, American Grill for comfort food; and The Juice Box & The Donut Box.
