In the summer head to the Ravinia Festival for classical music, as it is the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, or for one of its many jazz or popular music concerts. There is a performance nearly every night from mid-June until after Labor Day. You can take the Metra train to the Park where there are several restaurant and food options. Rent lawn chairs and sit on the lawn with the locals or buy a more expensive ticket for the Pavilion. The Martin Theatre is a great venue for performances or catch a rising star for a free concert in the Steans Institute theater. One tip is that there are more Metra trains that stop at Braeside, so get off and walk 10 minutes north along the tracks to the Park entrance.
