The Wildwoods’ famous Boardwalk features 38 blocks packed end to end with stores, shops, water parks, eateries, live entertainment and amusement piers with over 100 rides and attractions. The sights, the sounds and the smells of the Boardwalk are totally sensory overload! The Sightseer tram car runs along the two mile stretch where you can get on and off at several points along the way.

On the Boardwalk

Summer Fun

On the Boardwalk you will find all kind of food from pizza, fish and chips and seafood to gyros, hot dogs and burgers. For the sweet tooth, there are many fudge and candy shops, ice cream stands and shops selling Polish water ice in a range of flavors. Douglass Candies is a great spot for salt water taffy, since 1919, and there are three locations for Kohr Bros Frozen Custard at different spots along the Boardwalk. You won’t go hungry! I always love Kohr Bros and am enjoying the last of my salt water taffy at home in Chicago. The Doo Wop Diner is a fun 1950s-style diner.

Throughout the summer, there is a lot to do for families. There are free Friday night fireworks all summer long, weekly craft shows, classic car shows, free family entertainment and parades. Elsewhere on the island you will find over 180 seasonal events, including cultural, ethnic, food and music festivals, concerts, motorcycle rallies, fishing tournaments, Monster Truck races on the beach, and even a baby parade which a Wildwoods’ tradition since 1909. On the weekend when I was in town, there was the annual NJ State Barbecue Championship & Blues Festival in North Wildwood. For nightly entertainment, there are many Irish pubs, sports bars, dance clubs and lounges.
