East Los Angeles is worth the visit to see the murals in this neighborhood just east of downtown in Boyle Heights. The area around Mariachi Plaza is a great place to start at 1807 E. 1st. In addition to the murals and the performing mariachi bands, there are some good Mexican restaurants to try.
