I found some wonderful restaurants in Antigua. I loved the Café Condesa; they offered a great brunch on the weekends and I loved eating outside in the back overlooking the courtyard. It had wonderful food and pastries. Since it is right on the main square it’s a great place to stop in for a cup of coffee or snack. It is inside Casa del Conde on the west side of Central Park.
I found the restaurant Meson Panza Verde to be excellent with a wonderful, romantic atmosphere. I enjoyed the Cuban jazz. They offer music several nights during the week.
I would also suggest trying La Fonda de la Calle Real, with its lovely courtyard and great Guatemalan cuisine.
Other sources recommend H Bistro/Hector’s Bistro at 1 Calle Poniente No. 9A and Tartines at 4a Calle Oriente, No. 1C. A good friend was recently there and loved Hector’s mentioned above and Epicure at 3a Ave. Norte #11b. They also had a great experience at the restaurants at the Santo Domingo and particularly at the Tenedor del Cerro which is outside of town overlooking several volcanoes.
A local friend living in Antigua from Chicago also recommends, Como Como at 6a Calle Poniente, Cazador Italiano, Bistrot Cinq and Restaurante Don Martin.
