On a busy Sunday I took the ferry from Pier 52 to Bainbridge Island. The ferries run almost hourly and it takes 35 minutes for the trip across the Sound. The town of Winslow has some nice shops on the main street, Winslow Way. Eagle Harbor Book Company has a large selection of new and used books at 157 Winslow Way East.

But make you sure you walk down Madison Street where you will find Doc’s Marina Grill at 403 Madison, Pegasus Coffee House at 131 Parfitt Way SW and the Harbour Public House & Marina at 211 Parfitt Way. Pegasus is the perfect place to have lunch, drink coffee, read and hang out. It had a great feel. I met locals who often come from Seattle to write and read! The line for Mora Iced Creamery, at 139 Madrone Lane, was so long that I was not able to try one of their 48 flavors of ice cream and sorbet; bummer! I saw the Streamliner Diner, closer to the ferry, which has also been recommended for breakfast in several articles I have read.
