I spent a week in this hip, edgy German City. I was really very impressed with the architecture, the art, the galleries, museums, restaurants and the ease of getting around the city. I was there over my birthday which falls on the same day as the Fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, and Kristallnacht or Night of The Broken Glass when the Nazi’s looted and burned thousands of shops, Jewish homes, cemeteries and synagogues in 1938. There is history everywhere you walk. My focus was more on the new Berlin rather than the old Berlin. So I enjoyed more modern art and architecture rather than focusing on older palaces and older European art.
