Manhattan Beach is a casual beach community along the Pacific south of Marina del Rey. Make sure to walk along the beach and check out the pier as well as the shops and restaurants downtown.
Based on a review in the New York Times, I tried Fishing with Dynamite, located at 1148 Manhattan Ave. This is Chef David LeFevre’s fun, casual oyster bar, raw bar and seafood restaurant in downtown Manhattan Beach. With a background at Charlie Trotters in Chicago and earning a Michelin star at LA’s Water Grill, he has created a menu including traditional and contemporary seafood dishes. I enjoyed the mahi mahi tacos and a great key lime pie. You will like the great atmosphere and service.
MB Post – A Social House: Opened in 2011 by David LeFevre, this is a restaurant in the former post office with great design and atmosphere. The menu focuses on seasonal dishes which includes breads, charcuterie and cheeses plus vegetable, seafood and meat dishes.
Other recent suggestions from Eater Los Angeles in Manhattan Beach, include Love & Salt, Simmzy’s, The Arthur J, The Kettle from 1973 and The Strand House. I am excited to try a few on my next trip to Los Angeles.
