I really liked the feel of the Distillery District and St. Lawrence Market area which was a former whiskey distillery. The old buildings have been transformed into a pedestrian area with a number of shops, galleries and restaurants. Many have outdoor cafes. The area is buzzing at night.

The district is home to the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, located in an old warehouse at 55 Mill St. This is the home of the well-known Soulpepper Theatre CompanySoma Chocolatemaker is next door!

St Lawrence Market: Not far from the Distillery at 92-95 Front Street. Don’t miss this two level covered market that dates from 1850. A market has been on the site since 1803. Here you will find produce, fresh meats, fish and cheeses, chocolates, local wines from Wine Country Merchants and Everyday Gourmet, a coffee roaster serving good coffee drinks. I would definitely try Buster’s Sea Cove for a seafood lunch. Across the street is an enclosed farmers market that is open on Saturdays during the summer growing season.
