Located below the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, this area, containing some wonderful old brick warehouse buildings, has a great selection of retail stores, restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries. There are residential buildings as well, some with more contemporary architecture including 60 Water.

In the area you will find:
Almondine Bakery, 85 Water St.: A great French bakery and coffee shop. I loved the chocolate, almond croissant.

Brooklyn Roasting Co., This local coffee store has moved to a larger space at 45 Washington St. from the nearby West Elm store. Their main location and roasting plant is located at 25 Jay St. in Brooklyn.
One Girl Cookies, 33 Main St.: A fun spot for coffee and cookies. They also have a location at 68 Dean St. in Cobble Hill.

Jacques Torres Chocolates: This is a lovely chocolate shop that has a large selection of chocolates, candies, coffee and hot chocolate. 66 Water St. This is their original location.

Fun for families is Jane’s Carousel, an antique carousel from 1922 with 48 carved horses. The horses were all beautifully restored and installed in a beautiful pavilion, overlooking the East River, that opened in 2011. It can be found along the river between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.

To the east of Dumbo is Kings County Distillery at 299 Sands St. This is a local distillery that produces corn whiskey, bourbon, rye whiskey and other American craft whiskeys.
