Galena has some very good dining options. I recommend:
Fritz and Frites: At 371 Main St., this cozy bistro serves a combination of German and French specialties titled East of the Rhine and West of the Rhine. Therefore, they offer schnitzels and sauerbraten and cassoulet to steak frites. They have great desserts as well. The service is excellent.
Otto’s: Enjoyed this great spot that is open for breakfast and lunch. The quiche was a perfect choice. Across the river at 100 Bouthillier St., it is nice that it is away from Main St. and all of the shops and tourists.
Other recommended spots include Fried Green Tomatoes, for creative Italian dishes, at 213 N. Main and Vinny Vanucchi’s Little Italy also for Italian specialties at 201 S. Main.
Good friends, were there recently and recommend Durty Gurt’s Burger Joynt for great burgers and their “Thick Boozy Shakes” and the Log Cabin Steakhouse , a family-run institution in town since 1937 with steaks, seafood, martinis and some Greek items. They loved the filet!
