South of The Plateau on Saint-Denis is the Latin Quarter. This is the area near UQAM (University of Quebec at Montreal) that is buzzing with activity. There are many restaurants, bars, movie theaters and shops. Make sure to walk and explore this fun neighborhood.

To stay in the the heart of this area, The Hotel Relais de Lyonnais at 1595 Rue Saint-Denis is a good option. It has four suites and three regular rooms along the front of the hotel. Supposedly the noise can be an issue along the front in the regular rooms so request a room in the back. It was well located to many of the best neighborhoods and restaurants. They own a small cafe below the hotel where breakfast is served.

Walk east on Rue Ste. Catherine to explore the The Village, the center of the gay community. There you will see an abundance of restaurants, shops, cafes and nightspots.  There was some great street art and sculptures to see on the walk in this area.
