Two museums well-worth the visit are:
Portland Art Museum: Portland’s Art Museum is well-worth a visit. Here you will find a solid permanent collection containing photography, American, Asian and European art plus art of Native Americans and the Northwest which includes contemporary works and some glassworks by Dale Chihuly. There is a very good small French impressionist collection featuring works by Monet, Manet, van Gogh, Renoir and Gauguin. The large Monet water lily painting is superb. 1219 SW Park.
Museum of Contemporary Craft: This was a small museum in the heart of the Pearl District, that features more than 1,000 objects of modern and contemporary craft from 1937 to the present. They had mid-century ceramics and other works in clay, fiber, glass, metal and wood from artists in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The Museum collection is now part of the Center of Contemporary Art & Culture and can be visited at 511 NW Broadway.
