Route 66

The historic Route 66 runs right through the city of Albuquerque. I followed Central Avenue, both east and west, past the Rio Grande River to see some of the Route 66 sights. I loved the old motels, like the El Vado Motel, and motel signs along the route. The El Vado has recently been renovated and is considered a hip place to stay when in town.

Some of the motels are since gone but the signs have been left. There is the  66 Diner and an old service station/car dealership that is now a restaurant also. My goal is to explore Route 66 throughout New Mexico on future trips to the area. I will head to Tucumcari in the east and then to Gallup in the west. I will be reporting all of my finds to you along the way!
