Some of the excellent local wineries to explore in Sebastopol include:
Taft Street: This is a small winery at 2030 Barlow Lane, northwest of downtown Sebastopol. I really enjoyed their Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Rose and their newly released Heritage Medallion Red Blend N. 4. I bought a bottle of the rose to enjoy on my trip to the coast.
Dutton-Goldfield Winery: 3100 Gravenstein Highway North: This tasting room features their whites as well as pinot noirs, syrahs and zinfandels. I really enjoyed the Morelli Land Vineyard Zinfandel from grapes planted by the Morelli family, over 100 years ago, at the top of Stoetz Ridge on the far western edge of the Russian River Valley appellation.
Red Car: A local winery with tasting room featuring their chardonnay, pinot noirs and syrahs. The reserve Vivio Vineyard Syrah was excellent. It is located across the parking lot from Dutton-Goldfield at 8400 Graton Rd.
A local friend loves Lynmar Estate for their great pinot noirs and chardonnays. 3909 Frei Rd.
Also recommended is Iron Horse Winery at 9786 Ross Station Rd. It specializes in sparkling wines, chardonnays and pinot noirs.
