There are some great shopping possibilities in downtown Ann Arbor. I really enjoyed:
The Nickels Arcade on State Street: Since 1918, this is a light-filled shopping arcade reminiscent of the arcades in London. Check out Van Boven, Inc. at 326 S. State, a traditional men’s store from 1921 in the Nickels Arcade. This is the place to buy your University of Michigan tie. Also you will find Comet Coffee, 16 Nickels Arcade, offering quality coffee drinks in a contemporary atmosphere.
West Side Book Shop: Since 1975, this is a book store featuring used and rare books. It is out of the past with cluttered rooms and great stock of books, maps and old photographs for sale. It is located at 113 W. Liberty.
Literati Bookstore at 124 E. Washington St. is another good book shop to visit. They also have a book club plus readings and lectures by writers throughout the year.
Rock Paper Scissors: At 216 S. Main, this is a very attractive store featuring cards, home accessories and gifts.
