While shopping in Bhutan don’t miss:
Bhutanese Textiles: Weaving is an important part of the culture and is found in vibrant colors and patterns. I particularly like the ones woven in cotton and silk and bought a number of pieces to bring home. You can also find some nice wood carvings to buy. Bhutanese arts and crafts have been undergoing a period of revival as a result of the government promoting the country’s rich cultural heritage.
School of Thirteen Arts and Crafts in Thimphu: It was very interesting to see this famous painting and art school. It was also fun to see the classrooms but I really enjoyed buying some pieces in the small store.
Visit the local, colorful weekend market in Thimphu.
