After the Good Friday processions in Antigua, which were the largest and grandest, I flew to Tikal for a night.
We arrived at the National Park on Saturday morning. But I was disappointed with the large number of people visiting the Mayan ruins. However, on Sunday, which was Easter Sunday, I went into the park before 7 am and I was so pleased to see the wonderful ruins and temples before the crowds had arrived. It was a great experience and I was glad I spent the time to see it. The Lodge was simple but comfortable and the food was decent for being in the middle of the jungle. It was the perfect spot from which to explore the ruins of Tikal.
