Visiting Captiva Island, Florida

Sanibel Island/Capitva Island

Captiva Island is an upscale community north of Sanibel with many private homes. There is a charming, colorful village with a number of shops and restaurants. Make sure to try:

The Bubble Room: This a fun spot for lunch in a space filled with toys, antiques, music and Hollywood memorabilia from the 30’s and 40’s. They have a large selections of salads, sandwiches, burgers and soups.

Others to check out include RC Otter’s Island Eats, Key Lime Bistro and Latte ‘da Coffee Shop and Deli for ice cream and coffee. The Captiva House restaurant and the Oasis Pool Bar at ‘Tween Waters Inn Island Resort are also recommended.

I have always heard of the South Seas Island Resort (formerly the South Seas Plantation), and it is very large with nine restaurants, plus rooms, condos, cottages, villas and homes for rent. There is golf and many activities.

I really like the ‘Tween Waters Inn Island Resort which is smaller and more manageable. It has a beach on the Gulf and a Marina on the Bay. There are rooms as well as 16 charming cottages. The Captiva House restaurant is really lovely. There is the Crow’s Nest Beach Bar & Grille and the Oasis Pool Bar is very popular for lunch. 15951 Captiva Drive.
