South of Fish Creek is the small village of Egg Harbor. Here you will find galleries, shops, restaurants, wineries and cultural offerings. I enjoyed my lunch in town and exploring afterwards. Not to be missed are:
Casey’s BBQ and Smokehouse: At 7855 Hwy. 42, it is open daily year round. This fun, casual spot, features southern-style smoked BBQ meats. Here you can get ribs, chicken, brisket, pork shoulder and Italian sausage. They offer salads, appetizers, soups, sandwiches, BBQ combos, steaks, fish and seafood entrees and a large number of sides. I thought the pulled pork sandwich was an excellent choice for lunch.
Shipwrecked Brew Pub: At 7791 Hwy 42, this is a fun spot with a water view patio that serves pub style fare and their in-house brewed ales.
Rusty Tractor Door County Breakfast Barn: This is a great spot for breakfast that is located in a former barn. 6216 Hwy. 42.
Chocolate Chicken is known for coffee, chocolates, fudge and ice cream at 7821 Horseshoe Bay Rd.
Stop in at MacReady Artisan Bread at 7838 Hwy. 42 for some of their made from scratch breads.
Harbor Ridge Winery: This is a winery with wines ranging from dry and semi-sweet to sweet. Most of the grapes are grown in other regions and brought to the winery. The sweet cherry wine is from local cherries. You can stop in at their tasting room and then explore Wisconsin Cheese Masters and Door County Soaps located in the same complex. 4690 Rainbow Ridge Ct.
Wisconsin Cheese Masters: Located at 4692 Rainbow Ridge Ct., South of Egg Harbor, this store carries a large selection of cheeses from blues, cheddars, European styles, goudas and Wisconsin Originals.
Door County Soaps: Next to Wisconsin Cheese Masters, this is a store located at 4690 Rainbow Ridge Ct. in Egg Harbor that carries a line of all natural soaps, lotions and home products. I am enjoying their lavender soap and lotion I bought there.
Door Artisan Cheese: At 8103 Hwy. 42, here you can experience how cheese is made and shop at their market featuring a large number Wisconsin cheeses, craft beer and wines. You can also eat at their Glacier Ledge Restaurant.
The Birch Creek Music Performance Center is a summer music academy and concert venue, since 1976, that features faculty/student performances in percussion and steel band, classical and big band jazz from June thru August. It is located 3 miles east of Egg Harbor on Hwy. E. I was extremely impressed with the overall setting and the wonderful quality of the performance. I enjoyed a concert, Swinging Through the Ages, which featured a student orchestra as well as the faculty orchestra. Both were outstanding!! They also offer special concerts throughout the year including a Fall Series of concerts.
