There are several good options on where to stay in Luang Prabang.
I loved my hotel, the Belmond La Residence Pho Vao , which is on the edge of town. The setting is wonderful with an infinity pool overlooking a mountain with a temple in the distance. They had a great restaurant, beautiful grounds and a spa. Their Lao massage, similar to a Thai massage, was great. I had a lovely suite overlooking the grounds. I highly recommend this great property.
Other recommendations we have been reading about include the boutique hotel, Sofitel Luang Prabang Hotel, which has received several design acolades. It is located in the former French Governor’s Residence built in the 1900s. There is also The 3 Nagas boutique hotel in town and the boutique Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel.
One of the newest luxury offerings is Aman Resort’s Amantaka Resort and Spa. This is a beautiful property on lush grounds. Rosewood has opened a beautiful new luxury resort as well, the Rosewood Luang Prabang with restaurant, bar, pool and a spa.
