Door county has a growing number of wineries, microbreweries and distilleries to visit when you are on the peninsula. My recommendations include:
Door County Wine Trail: Before you go, you might visit this website to see the list of wineries, download a map and view upcoming special events and tastings.
Stone’s Throw Winery: This is a lovely tasting room located at 3382 County Rd. E at the intersection of Country Rd. A east of Egg Harbor. They make a number of reds, whites and rosés. In addition to their tasting room, they have Vino! Vino!, a wine bar that also serves tapas and Bocce for pizza. They have a lovely outdoor patio as well. This was my favorite on my recent trip to the area.
Harbor Ridge Winery: This is an Egg Harbor winery with wines ranging from dry and semi-sweet to sweet. Most of the grapes are grown in other regions and brought to the winery. The sweet cherry wine is from local cherries. You can stop in at their tasting room and then explore Wisconsin Cheese Masters and Door County Soaps located in the same complex. 4690 Rainbow Ridge Ct.
Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery & Market: This is a Fish Creek family-owned winery and market offering fresh fruit, specialty foods, cherry gifts and bakery items. 9197 Hwy. 42.
Island Orchard Cider: From their orchards on Washington Island, this cider mill makes a number of French-style ciders including a brut or dry apple cider, oak aged apple cider, pear cider and apple cherry like a rose. Tours are available plus they have a tasting room and cider pub where you can sample and buy their ciders. They are open daily from May to October and then have seasonal hours in other months. They are located north of downtown Ellison Bay at 12040 Garrett Bay Rd.
Door County Brewing Co.: At 8099 Highway 57, this is a new location of this family owned craft brewery that was established in 2012. There is a tap room and music hall where you can taste one of their porters, stouts, IPAs and whitbier (wheat beer) and catch a live music concert year-round. There is a backyard beer garden where you can sample locally sourced food and cheese from their own Magnolia Cheese Co.
Door County Distillery/Peninsula Winery: This distillery and winery is located in Carlsville, south of Egg Harbor, at 5806 Hwy 42. They produce a number of spirits including vodka, brandy, bourbon and gin. Their wines include whites, reds and a number of fruit and dessert wines. Open daily, tastings and tours are available.
